What is Aerospace WSQ?
The Aerospace Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national skills training system developed by the industry and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA). It maps out the skills needed for a job in the Aerospace MRO industry and the training you need to enter it. The system also shows how you can continue with skills upgrading to progress in
your career in Aerospace.

Aerospace WSQ
  • Sets skills standards and qualifications
  • Guides design of training curriculum to suit adult learning needs
  • Does not require formal qualifications as entry criteria
  • Shows clear pathways for skills upgrading and career progression
  • Recognises your exiting skills through assessment and WSQ certification
  • Is accepted by employers in the Aerospace MRO Sector
What Aerospace WSQ offers you?
  • International Benchmarking
WDA facilitates international recognition of Aerospace WSQ qualifications, which are built on best international practice and comprises industry-validated competency standards.
  • Competency-Based Curriculum
Being competency-based, the training focuses on the actual job requirements at the workplace. It allows your worker to attain relevant skills and knowledge immediately applicable to your company's operations and range of occupational needs.
  • Accessible
Training programmes are conducted in bite-sized modules to minimize disruption to your business operations. Your workers can sign up for relevant modules and attend courses that accomodates their work schedules and needs. They can also undergo on-the-job training within a company, if it is a WSQ Approved Training Organisation.
  • Enhancing Training Capabilities
WDA helps third-party providers and your in-house training department scale up their capabilities and curricula to ensure smooth training delivery.
  • Quality Assurance
WDA monitors the quality of training providers and their training programmes to ensure they have the right knowledge and skills to conduct training companies require.
How Qualifications are Awarded?

At present, the Aerospace WSQ framework awards qualification for the Technician level in the Aerospace MRO industry.

Once a trainee completes and passes the WSQ assessment, a statements of Attainment (SOA) will be warded. The SOA certifies the person has the requisite skills and knowledge for the particuar part of the job.

When the trainee has accumulated all the SOAs for required modules in the three categories of Industry Core.

Sectoral Core and Specialisation Electives, he will be awarded the full WSQ Higher Certificate in Aerospace Maintenance in the MRO sub-sector he specialised in. The WSQ qualification certifies the person has the required skilld and knowledge for a Technician's job in the Aerospace MRO industry.

If your worker has prior experience and credentials in a specific set of skills, he or she can opt to undergo assessment directly.

Assessment under WSQ is either conducted at the workplace or in a similar environment, making it as hassle-free and flexible as possible.

You can send your workers for training by choosing one or more WSQ modules in any of the six sub-sectors - Aircraft Maintenance (Mechanical); Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics); Component Repair and Overhaul (Mechanical); Component Repair and Overhaul (Avionics); Engine/Engine Component Repair Overhaul and Modifications and Conversions.

How you can Participate?
Your staff can be trained either:
  • In-House
If you would lke to conduct staff training in-house, you can:
The accreditation guide will enable you to apply to become an in-house Approved Training Organisation (ATO)

  • At WSQ Approved Training Organisation (ATO)

Benefits Of Our WSQ Blended Learning Program

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system offers a systematic path for individuals to equip themselves with relevant competencies so that they can upgrade their aerospace skills, enhance their employability and stay relevant.

WSQ builds on the work achieved through previous work on aerospace industry-designed competency standards developed in the National Skills Recognition System (NSRS). WSQ Aerospace comprises a full competency map covering all occupations in the Aircraft Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul and Engine sections, with clear certification points, career development and training pathways, and nationally recognised qualifications. The WSQ industry skills framework comprise a generic platform of employability skills and "know-how" to work and progress in the industry, and specific occupation skills aligned to individual jobs or job families.

Objectives

Our WSQ Aerospace courses are designed to facilitate adult learning, make skills upgrading more accessible to our workforce and provide aerospace career progression pathways for them. It aims to equip our workforce with the necessary aerospace employability, industry and occupational skills to remain competitive and add value to the aerospace organisations.

Our WSQ Aerospace Courses blended learning is flexible, fast, and convenient. It saves time, money, and resources and delivers measurable, tangible results. Today's world is driven by access, information, and speed. The key to success is moving knowledge from the people who have it to the people who need it. Online learning gives you the power to do exactly that. We can help you get started. Our BlackBoard Learning Management System provides you more convenient and personalized learning options to expand access to aviation education. With this system, your "ROI" will be increased and achieve the following benefits:

  • Problem-based learning: Introduction of an ill-structured problem on which all learning centers . Teachers assume the role of cognitive and metacognitive coach rather than knowledge-holder and disseminator; students assume the role of active problem-solvers, decision-makers, and meaning-makers rather than passive listeners.
  • Just-in-time education: Deliver knowledge on-demand, with up-to-date information. Courses / Tutorials review and revisions are made continually in response to new assessment developed by Aviation Authority, feedback from students (captured from each exam), and issues that surface through the discussion groups.
  • Cost-effective: Online Learning is cost effective since it minimizes down-time by providing training at times that are convenient to the aviation technician and the company's work sschedule. Without travel time or expenses, saving of at least 50 percent is achieved.
  • Flexibility: Students can choose the online education e.g tutorial at their own pace, and they can take advantage of an extensive World Wide Web reference library.
  • Customization: Online Instructor / tutor can quickly assess individual student and group needs, then tailor learning activities to appropriate interests and objectives.
  • Assessment: The Learning Management System allows students and instructor / tutor to monitor their progress in courses / tutorials and with the ability to create assessments, instructor / tutor will know what students have learned, when they've completed courses, how they performed, and their levels of improvement.
  • Management: For corporate courses, Training Manager can easily access and track reports to show who has been taking which courses and how effective the learning has been.
  • Interaction with Peers: Participate in discussion groups and chat sessions to trade ideas and learn from others.
  • Distance Learning: Instructor / tutor can deliver and manage training on-demand, with up-to-the-minute information. Students can access training instantly at any time and any place.
  • Interaction with Experts: Instructor / tutor answers questions for situations not covered by standard training and assists students when they find a particular topic or concept hard to understand.
